Angel City Virtual Games
with Sam Bosco

Samantha Bosco is an accomplished Paralympian based Los Angeles and has recently started working with Angel City Games during the pandemic as a Content Coordinator to help organize and create content for their social media channels in the lead up to the Virtual even that is going to be taking place in a few months. The Angel City Games is the premier adaptive sports festival in the Western United States, offering clinics, competitions and special events for people of all ages and skill levels who have a physical disability or mobility impairment. Below are words written by Sam.

It has been rough not having any races on the schedule this summer. Thankfully, for me at least, Zwift exists; virtual group rides and races are saving both my fitness and my sanity. Which is why I am excited to be hosting a virtual race August 9th for the 2020 Angel City Virtual Games presented by The Hartford.

For those that may not know, I am a paracyclist, which I like to say is a fancy way of saying I am a cyclist with a disability. But I didn’t know about para athletics and all of the para sports that existed until I was 25. Then, after my first Paralympic Games I was introduced to Angel CityCity Sports, a non-profit organization that creates sport opportunities for those with disability. Every summer they put on the Angel City Games, exposing people of all ages and disabilities to over a dozen different sports: wheelchair basketball, track and field, archery, wheelchair tennis, swimming, etc.

This year it was canceled. But Angel City Sports knows a thing or two about adapting and created the games to be virtual. This has allowed the opportunity to not only include cycling, but to have ANYONE join in on the fun! That means whether you have a disability or not you can join in on any of the three weeks of workout clinics, challenges, community-building events, and family events. Learn more and sign up at angelcitygames.org. This is also how you’ll be able to attend the virtual race on August 9th with me! Look forward to seeing you all there!
