The Purpose _

Based on our award-winning, all-around trail wheel with a 30mm internal width for modern MTB tyres, the HUNT engineering and development team set out to build a more sustainable wheel through specification choices and the use of recycled content.

The result is the Sustain Phase One Trail Wide 29, offering the same versatility, responsiveness, durability, and compliance riders expect from a HUNT Trail Wide, built with reduced environmental impact. The 6000 series alloy in this rim is made using 75% recycled aluminium content, laced with Zero Coat silver spokes and nipples and a new HUNT EUROPA Boost hubset, offering quick 7.5-degree engagement for the steepest technical climbs. Ride-tuned spoke count front (28) and rear (32) offers compliance up front, paired with power transfer and strength in the back. If you’re looking for a more sustainable way to transform the ride feel of your trail bike, this is your wheel.

The HUNT development team has opted to forego the energy and chemical usage required in the spoke and spoke nipple colour coating process, which has no functional or performance benefit. Same performance, less environmental impact.

RIM PROFILE

30mm internal rim width is optimised for modern trail tyres, from 2.2” to 2.8”, offering sidewall support and traction where you need it.
BEARINGS

Precision stainless EZO steel cartridge bearings with waterproof grease specially selected for the worst weather. 
RIM BED

H-Lock is our tubeless-ready rim bed profile with up-kicks to the shoulders of the tubeless steps which help to create a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. The H-Lock profile also locks the beads in place more securely once seated. This is especially important when running lower pressures off road.
SPOKES

Hand-built with top-of-the-range, reinforced Sapim D-Light double butted J-bend spokes for durability. Double butted spokes reduce weight and provide greater elasticity to maintain optimal tension and resist fatigue, all leading to excellent durability and long spoke service life. Zero Coat silver finish reduces energy and chemical usage.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. While our processes are very precise, a 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is completely normal in manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 135 kg (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If the system is over 125 kg then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
