265 km of Friendship, Freedom, and Endless Roads

Crossing Borders XL

When we teamed up with our friends from Schicke Mütze for the Crossing Borders XL ride, we knew we were in for something special. Riding 265 kilometres through Germany, Holland, and Belgium isn't just a test of endurance, it’s a reminder of what cycling can truly mean: freedom, connection, and adventure.

The Schicke Mütze and Off The Map crew had already set the bar high earlier this year, with the first Crossing Borders event selling out in mere hours. For the XL version, expectations were sky-high, but the ride delivered even more. We rolled out from Düsseldorf, our wheels humming along roads that seamlessly connected three countries, reminding us just how incredible (and important) it is to move freely across borders.

As we crossed effortlessly between Germany, Holland, and Belgium, I couldn't help but reflect on how fortunate we are to ride without barriers. Especially now, this freedom feels significant. It’s something to be cherished and celebrated.

By the time we reached the final kilometres, tired legs were easily forgotten as smiles grew wider. At our last stop, when locals asked where we'd ridden from, their surprise when we said “Belgium and back” felt pretty good, because, honestly, we were also quietly amazed. The ride was ambitious, sure, but that's precisely why it felt so rewarding.

If you've been thinking about pushing yourself a bit further, let this be your nudge. Grab your trusty bike, rally some friends, and map out a route that takes you beyond your comfort zone. The roads are waiting, borders are meant to be crossed, and nothing compares to the feeling of finishing something you once thought was impossible.
