Behind the Scenes:
Bringing Enduro V3 to Life.

Words by Tom Caldwell
If you want any product to be tested, especially wheels, The Firm as a whole is a pretty testing gauntlet for a product to withstand. Constant abuse, hucks to flat, flips, tricks and some, lets’s be honest, downright sketchy riding. When Hunt came on board and offered to sort the boys out with sets of wheels, we were ecstatic. We’re even more so now after giving the Enduro V3 hell and knowing they can withstand a battering in an unforgiving and mechanically unsympathetic environment. Professor Ollie was however impressed with his findings from the test session and deemed the Enduro V3’s 'The Firm proof'. As you might know we’re typically Northern and straight to the point and if something doesn’t fly, it’s gone. These wheels can definitely stick around though and we're not just saying that.
Initially for this project we spruced up our local woods over a few weeks, back up to the standard it used to be. It’s a small and sandy playground that always provides some banger clips and has been a little known riding spot for knocking on 35 years.
We received the wheels from Hunt and I distributed the V3’s around to the lads. They got fitted onto the rigs and I gathered the troops ready for a full weekend of sessions in the woods. Fresh spring weather greeted us along with wheel designer and engineer Ollie Mant, who to his displeasure, was immediately dressed as a professor in a lab coat and large black wig after driving 4 hours north into unknown territory. His Devon and South Downs background however didn’t help the language barrier as he was inundated with the local Scouse and Runcorn dialects along with being very confused when the parking spot was effectively in a building site. We proceeded with the filming and some heavy wheel testing ensued, but the Enduro V3’s took it like a champ.
Chug (Charlie Flynn) started the filming with a few flips and barrel rolls to bed the wheels in. Following that was plenty of sideways style on the hip from Shep and Louis and a few heavy slams on the flip attempts from Finn Clark. Sessions like these inevitably turn into 1 up contests as the lads begin pulling further for gaps and getting bigger run ins for maximum speed. We sessioned some ripping turns where Ollie measured the roost with a tape measure and ended on some prime loam corners as the light faded.
Owen - ‘I’ve ridden my Hunt wheels for a few months now, super sick and strong. They’ve been put through their paces up at the Golfie down some mega Scottish tech tracks. These wheels seem have the perfect amount of stiffness and flexibility for hard riding, as tested by The Firm!’
Finn - ‘I personally think they look like a really smart wheel set, clean and simple. They ride really well, not too stiff and track around corners really well. I’ve put the wheels through a battering over the past month and they still spin as if they were brand new, sick bit of kit.’
Chug - ‘My first impressions - a great looking wheel set that has a stealth look in black with the minimal silver writing, the rims do not scratch or mark easy like some other brands and the bearings in both the hubs and free hub are smooth with a nice sound.
I’ve ran carbon wheels for a long time now - and they are great, but they can sometimes be just too light when having a lightweight frame, causing the bike to be a tad unbalanced on larger jumps. The Hunt Wheels provide a stable weight and are definitely not heavy. They’re just the right amount to feel robust and not flex or feel like they are going to be damaged on a hard landing, rocky terrain or hucking to flat. I have genuinely tried hard to push these wheels too the max but they won’t budge even when a sideways landing occurs. A spoke hasn’t even come loose yet so big shout out to the wheel builders at Hunt.
I have big plans to push these wheels even harder where other brands have failed and I am 100% positive that they can handle the Chug Life of flips, spins, huck to flats and many many more sketchy manoeuvres.
