After much testing and analysis, here is the first release of data following our recent trip to the GST (Gesellschaft für Strömungsmeßtechnik mbH) as used by Canyon, in Southern Germany. Read on to find out how the HUNT 50 Carbon Aero Disc wheels with a 25c Schwalbe Pro One tyre produced the lowest drag on test!

The advent of 650B/27.5" has transformed how we see adventure bikes. Rivalling cyclocross bikes for efficiency, and cross-country mountain bikes for versatility, this wheel size speaks beyond their smaller size. Aerodynamics has long been something considered inaccessible to many riders. We want to change that. Up until now, only very few have released results yielded from wind tunnel testing. After travelling back from the GST Gesellschaft für Strömungsmeßtechnik mbH (more commonly known as the Airbus Wind Tunnel as used by Canyon) in Southern Germany, Luisa has since reviewed the results marking the next step forward. Now she explains exactly what happens.

With the advent of tubeless tyre technology taking the road, cyclocross and gravel scenes by storm, Hunt has always striven to improve how tyres are anchored to the rim. Depending on the particular wheelset, a Hunt wheel sports either a Hook-less or Hooked rim profile to take care of securing the tyre to the rim. You can read exactly what H-Lock Wedge (HLW) sidewal rims are here. However, we have also chosen to take the tyre/rim interface one step further with H-lock.

Our brand new range of Carbon Disc wheels was recently launched and has generated a huge amount of interest. They embrace the latest rim technologies to enable the wheelsets to deliver some of the lightest weights available on the market. Industry magazines and websites often ask questions about the H-Lock Wedge (HLW) sidewall rims used and the benefits they provide. At Hunt Wheels we devote lots of time to testing out new wheels before we bring them to market. As riders ourselves we quite enjoy testing all the wheels and getting a feel for the way they ride, the handling characteristics and of course importantly the way they look when lent up against a café. Testing is important so we make sure that you can buy the very best products and so that we can provide you with the very best information on our products. Our 2016 wheelsets were launched at the Cycle Show last month however it was a long process leading up to that point. We have been extensively testing 2016 wheel samples since early spring in all conditions, ranging from the gritty potholed lanes of Sussex to the rough gravel tracks of the Pyrenees in France and everything in between as prototypes have been used to tour across Europe.
