The 4 Season Gravel is a staple in our range, built for those who ride the path less travelled. Updated with our latest, highly durable ratchet drive hub system to handle the increased torque of wide-range drivetrains. With a high spoke count and oversized double-sealed cartridge bearings, you can enjoy ‘fit & forget’ performance whilst exploring, bikepacking,or CX racing, knowing your wheels are up to whatever the ride plan entails.

We’ve invested in high-specification components such as 6066-T6 aluminium alloy rims, hubs and triple butted spokes, so you don't pay a weight penalty for extra off-road durability.

Rims 

Wide (29mm external, 25mm internal) rims constructed with 6066-T6 aluminium alloy (+34% tensile strength vs 6061-T6) then heat treated to increase surface hardness, improving fatigue resistance. The disc brake-specific asymmetric rim profile allows for balanced spoke tensions, improving durability and optimizing strength-to-weight ratio across the wheel system.

H_Ratchet Hubs

HUNT H_Ratchet 36T SGL hub system with J-bend spoke interface and extra bearing shielding is designed for durability and reliability. Increased engagement surface area improves power transfer and longevity of the hubs, while using less material compared to a spring-and-pawl system, resulting in a light but robust hub system designed and tested to cope with the increased torque of wide-range drivetrains. H_CERAMIK freehub body coating adds protection against cassette gouging.

4 Season Durability

Built to survive an endless assault from mother nature. Using an oversized front hub shell to house larger bearings than found on most road wheels, offering ‘fit and forget functionality to keep you rolling smoothly for seasons to come. We've hand-built this wheel system with Pillar triple butted PSR spokes (increased thickness around the head of the spoke), using corrosion-resistant, self-lubricating brass nipples for dependability when you need it most.

The smooth and stable handling offered by the low-profile rim inspires confidence on unknown terrain, from gravel to singletrack. 25mm-wide internal rim profile offers ample tyre compatibility options and improved traction with the ability to lower your pressures significantly when paired with a tubeless tyre system.

Rims

A strong and lightweight 6066-T6 (+34% tensile strength vs 6061-T6) heat-treated alloy rim features an asymmetric shape which is inverted from front to rear to provide balanced higher spoke tensions meaning your spokes stay tight for the long term. The rim profile is disc specific which allows higher strength-to-weight as no reinforcement is required for a braking surface. The wide rim at 29mm (25mm internal) which creates a great tyre profile with wider 35mm-50mm tyres

H-Lock is our tubeless-ready rim bed profile with up-kicks to the shoulders of the tubeless steps which help to create a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. Freehub Body

Durability is a theme for HUNT as time and money you spend fixing is time and money you cannot spend riding or upgrading your bikes. As a result, we've developed the H_CERAMIK coating to provide excellent durability and protect against cassette sprocket damage often seen on standard alloy freehub bodies
Nipples

To accompany these high-end spokes we selected brass nipples for our Hunt 4 Season wheels. Brass is strong and corrosion resistant plus it has self-lubricating properties to prevent issues that can arise from grit salt on the winter roads corroding the fine threads in alloy nipples. As well as the standard square body we chose nipples with a hex head so you can achieve precise tensioning.

We chose Pillar triple butted spokes for their lower weight and greater degree of elasticity, which improves tension consistency and resists fatigue. The PSR J-bend spokes feature increased2.2mmthickness at the spoke head, providing more material in this high stress area.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 130 kg (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage) If the system is over 120 kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
