Grade B (50% OFF) - Used - It may have cosmetic marks to the hub or rim and will show signs of use - they have been serviced and checked by our master wheel builders and will provide many more miles of use.

The Purpose _

Positioned between two popular Carbon Disc offerings (30 Carbon Disc and 50 Carbon Disc), the 40 Carbon Disc was built for riders looking to upgrade their experience with quicker acceleration and lower rotational weight on climbs and rolling terrain, while still benefitting from the aerodynamic gains offered by a 40mm-deep, U-shaped carbon rim profile.

Updated with wider rim dimensions and an all-new ratchet hub system, the 40 Carbon Disc is optimized for 25mm-35mm tyres for fast road riding and racing, increasingly popular all-road terrain, as well as gravel riding (ETRTO compatible with tyres ranging from 25mm-55mm).

Unidirectional carbon fibre rim construction, with 3k reinforcement at spoke holes for greater durability. The layup is comprised primarily of Toray T700 fibres which offer high impact resistance and flexibility.

Bearings

Precision stainless steel cartridge bearings with waterproof grease specially selected for the worst weather.

Hubs

The HUNT H_Ratchet 36T SGL hubset provides a 10-degree engagement angle with improved durability, offering increased engagement surface area while using less shell materials relative to our race-proven pawl-based systems.

TECHNOLOGY _

The 40mm deep, 30mm-wide carbon profile provides stable and predictable handling while reducing drag across multiple wind yaw-angles. The wider 22mm internal rim bed opens out your tyre profile providing exceptional vibration reduction, improved cornering traction and low rolling-resistance, especially when ridden at lower pressures with modern-width tubeless tyres.  

The HUNT team have paired the wide hooked rim with new H_Ratchet 36T SGL hubs, offering a rapid 10-degree engagement angle, in a reliable, easy-to-service and long-lasting single-sided ratchet drive system. Increased engagement surface area improves power transfer and longevity of the hubs, while using less material compared to a spring-and-pawl system, resulting in a light but robust hub system designed and tested to cope with the torque demands of road or gravel drivetrains. Hand-built with top-of-the-range, easily serviceable Pillar PSR triple butted J-bend spokes and precision sealed cartridge bearings, this wheelset is ready to speed up your road, CX, or gravel rides.   

HIGH SPECIFICATION COMPONENTS _
Rims

Unidirectional carbon fibre rim construction, with 3k reinforcement at spoke holes for greater durability. The layup is comprised primarily of Toray T700 fibres which offer high impact resistance and flexibility. V:Absorb resin is blended in the carbon layering process, which cures at a lower temperature. Lower temperature resin reduces brittleness, resulting in greater impact resistance and more effective
vibration dampening.
Rim Surface

V:Absorb resin reduces vibration and massivelyimproves impact resistance. Disc brake rims are obviously not required tohandle the high temperatures induced by prolonged rim braking. We have made the most of this and used our new V:Absorb resin blends in the carbon layeringwhich cures at a lower temperature. Lower temperature resins are less brittlemeaning they have greater resistance to impacts and dampen vibration moreeffectively.
Rim Bed

H-Lock is our tubeless-ready rim bed profile with up-kicks to the shoulders of the tubeless steps which help to create a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. The H-Lock profile also locks the beads in place more securely once seated. This is especially important when running lower pressures off road.
Spokes

Hand-built with top-of-the-range, reinforced Pillar PSR triple butted J-bend spokes for durability. Triple butted spokes reduce weight and provide greater elasticity to maintain optimal tension and resist fatigue, with an increased 2.2mm diameter at the spoke head, providing more material in this high stress area, all leading to excellent durability and long spoke service life.
